Are we there yet?

The big trip is upon us and the final arrangements have all been completed. The last of the immunizations took place in Denver, Yellow Fever and Typhoid, yumm. Thanks Paul and Randi. We moved to Eagle for a few days as the season in Colorado finished up. Almost got taken out by a Mule Deer on a drive over the Tennessee Pass. Large stag charged out of the bushes towards the bike at about 11 at night. Didn't get chance to count the points but it looked pretty healthy. Had it not been for the ABS on the bike this trip could well have ended that evening. It was a close call which certainly got the adrenaline pumping. Finished up in Colorado a few days later and began the long drive to California. The bike never missed a beat and got treated to an oil change and a good wash at the end of the trip. We'd forgotten just how barren Utah and Nevada were.
Beth's Mom put on a big party for us when we got back, sort of a wedding party type thing, good chance to catch up with friends and family. Fitted new tyres on the bike, previous set still had a few thousand miles left but not enough to get us there and back. Up to Chico tomorrow and then taking Highway 1 down the west coast to the Mexican Border. From there we plan to drive down the Baja peninsula before taking the ferry across o the mainland.
Feels good to finally get moving. Been planning this one for about six months and it seems as though at times it wouldn't happen but here it is. Many adventures lie ahead. Hopefully it all goes smoothly but we expect a few bumps along the way and in some ways we look forward to them. We will try to keep this site updated as we go but from here out who knows how much access we will have to the internet.
